2009 Orchard in Bloom Display The Award Winners are back.... Orchard in Bloom
Garden Show This year the layout reaches new heights - a second level has been added! Design Chief Jeff Carter came up with a railroad that includes both a mountain and an operating water feature. All in a railroad that will be set up and removed in 7 days! Now, what is your excuse for not having your railroad running yet? The BIG NEWS - We won the "Peoples Choice" award for Micro Gardens for the second year in a row! Here's how you
do it: Then Jeff adds some mulch to
the mountain. That is the lake on top -
....and, at the end of day
one, the basics are laid - Friday, May 1, 2009 - Show Time! After too many hours spent in the rain, our Micro Garden is ready for visitors.
The mulch is soggy and some
flowers are droopy, but overall, it is lookin' good -
Jeff and Bud get setup for the
opening crowd
- The trains are running,
David's in the mountain branch and Bud's on the mainline - Wet track and ballast dust
are not kind to the 0-4-0 or to the sound system on the Mogul - But with some judicious
cleaning, both are up and running - Bud works the crowd - Other than being jerky and blurry, here is a great video of the display -
Here is the list of folks that worked on the 2009 Orchard in Bloom. Installation of the display: Randy Banks Engineers that ran the trains: James Driesbach This was our 19th year at the flower show. The show is 20 years old. Jeff Carter (Designer, coordinator, tireless promoter) |
